About Hexham

We chose to open Sorella in our home town of Hexham – a lovely market town in the picturesque Tyne valley, dominated by the magnificent Abbey, founded in 674AD by St Wilfred.

Hexham, voted Market Town of the Year 2005, in the prestigious Country Life awards, is steeped in history and has much to offer the visitor. There are an impressive number of buildings around the Abbey, The Old Gaol is the oldest purpose built gaol in England and hosts The Border Museum, The Moothall, The Old Courthouse and impressive Beaumont Street , home to the former Corn Exchange. The beautiful historic Hexham parks are the perfect place to stroll, the leafy Abbey grounds, gardens of Hexham House and the Sele are all grade 2 listed and have magnificent floral displays.

The town is also ideally situated for visiting Hadrians Wall and the stunning Northumbrian countryside and coastline.

There are great places to eat and drink with a choice of charming coffee shops and restaurants.

……and of course shopping, from individual independent boutiques, gift shops and antique shops, to high street names Hexham offers lots of choice.

So if you like what you see on our site perhaps we can tempt you to visit Hexham, and find us. Sorella is very centrally situated, only one minute from the market place on historic Hallstile bank, with its lovely old buildings and great views.

We have even more gorgeous products in our shop, which is great for browsing and inspiration – we offer great friendly service and you will be very welcome.

Hope to see you soon, Moira and Liz
